Core Inspection Checklist

Core Acceptance Criteria:

Accumulators

The following are required to receive full Core Credit:

Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Unit is fully assembled and complete (additional charges may apply for missing parts)
Housing shows no visible cracks, breaks or welding
There is no evidence of non-operational damage (mishandling, rust, corrosion, pitting or fire damage)

You will NOT receive a Core Credit if:

Component does not have a Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Excessive rust, pitting, corrosion or fire damage is evident
Outer Housing is visibly cracked, broken, or welded on

Fan Drives

Fan drives

Off Highway Trucks (793B, 793C, 789, 994)

The following are required to receive full Core Credit:

Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Housing shows no visible cracks, breaks or welding
Unit is fully assembled and complete (additional charges may apply for missing parts)
There is no evidence of non-operational damage (mishandling, rust, corrosion, pitting or fire damage)

You will receive Damage (Partial) Core if the following is met:

Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Housing shows no visible cracks, breaks or welding
If Tensioner shaft missing or damaged partial core will be issued

You will NOT receive a Core Credit if:

Component does not have a Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Housing is visibly cracked, broken, or has additional welds
Excessive rust, pitting, corrosion, or fire damage

Filter Base Housing

Off Highway Trucks (793B)

The following are required to receive full Core Credit:

Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Unit is fully assembled and complete (additional charges may apply for missing parts)
There is no evidence of non-operational damage (mishandling, rust, corrosion, pitting or fire damage)
No excessive dents or cracks to filter base assembly

You will receive Damage (Partial) Core if the following is met:

Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Filter base assembly is visibly excessively dented or cracked
If support bracket missing or damaged

You will NOT receive a Core Credit if:

Component does not have a Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Excessive rust, pitting, corrosion, or fire damage

Hydraulic Cylinders

(Excludes off-highway truck hoist cylinder, rear suspensions front suspensions, and all O&K cylinders)

The following are required to receive full Core Credit:

Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Unit is fully assembled and complete (additional charges may apply for missing parts)
Cylinder barrel and rod has no visibly cracks, broken, bent, or welded on.
Cylinder barrel and rod eyes not visibly cracked, broken, bent, or welded on
Cylinders that include trunions (Trunions must be inspected checking for cracks, broken, bent, or welded)
End cap (outer head) or Flange casting is not visibly cracked, broken, or welded on.
There is no evidence of non-operational damage (mishandling, rust, corrosion, pitting or fire damage)
Cylinder cores sold with stands need to be shipped back with stands or additional charge will apply for new stand.

You will receive Damage (Partial) Core if the following is met:

Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Cylinder barrel and or rod has cracks, broken, bent, or welded on
Cylinder barrel and or rod eyes has cracks, broken, bent, or welded on
Cylinder trunions, end cap, or flange casting is visibly cracked, broken, bent, or welded on

You will NOT receive a Core Credit if:

Component does not have a Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Non operational damage (Excessive rust, corrosion, pitting, or fire damage

Pump Drives

Off Highway Trucks (793B, 793C, 793D, 789, 994)

The following are required to receive full Core Credit:

Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Unit is fully assembled and complete (additional charges may apply for missing parts)
Housing is not visibly cracked, broken, or welded on
There is no evidence of non-operational damage (mishandling, rust, corrosion, pitting or fire damage)

You will NOT receive a Core Credit if:

Component does not have a Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Excessive rust, pitting, corrosion, or fire damage
Housing is visibly cracked, broken, or welded on

Rod Packs

The following are required to receive full Core Credit:

Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Unit is fully assembled and complete (additional charges may apply for missing parts)
Rod and rod eye is not visibly cracked, broken, welded, or bent
Head and or piston is not cracked, broken, welded on or bent
No visible gouges, or cracks in seal grove area of piston
There is no evidence of non-operational damage (mishandling, rust, corrosion, pitting or fire damage)

You will receive Damage (Partial) Core if the following is met:

Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Rod or rod eye is visibly cracked, broken, welded, or bent
Head and/or piston is visibly cracked, broken, welded, or bent
Seal grove area on piston has deep gouges or cracks
There is no evidence of non-operational damage (mishandling, rust, corrosion, pitting or fire damage)

You will NOT receive a Core Credit if:

Component does not have a Caterpillar or Exchange part number
Excessive rust, pitting, corrosion, or fire damage
